(soccer)
Quite a few ‘friendly’ soccer games (meaning that they don’t count towards anything) were played last night evening and I watched two of them while working on my blog. I saw the US beat Poland 3 – 0 and then Brazil beat Sweden 1 – 0.
A few observations:
1. I was surprised to learn (from the commentators) that most of the US team only short flights to Krakow due to the fact that they’re on European (mostly British) teams.
2. The Brazil – Sweden game was played at Emirates Stadium in London – why not Stockholm?
3. The Brazilian (Diego) and Swedish (Rosenberg) Werder Bremen strikers were playing against each other in the second game. Granted, I did know their nationalities, but it hadn’t occurred to me that they’d be on the teams.
4. Ronaldo wasn’t on the Brazil team. (**Update – I’ve just found out that he’s Portuguese, not Brazilian**)
All in all, a pleasant way to pass time while working on one’s blog.
(PS: I’m trying out WordPress’ timed posting feature to see if this will actually post at 3h38 while I’m (hopefully) slumbering away)
