Then they opened Terminal 5 and it all went to hell. Tuesday was the first time an airline has ever lost my luggage (and I fly a lot). I nearly missed my connecting flight because of the chaos. Between the fact that Heathrow was home to my worst airport experience ever (you'd think three hours would be enough time to transfer between flights, but we just barely made it) and the fact that the new Terminal 5 is <a HREF="http://architectures.danlockton.co.uk/2007/07/06/the-terminal-bench/" rel="nofollow">designed to be traveler-hostile</A> (with only 700 seats in its public waiting areas, it's designed to funnel travelers into seats at restaurants and cafes, or leave them wandering in shopping arcades), Heathrow is to be avoided at all costs. Of course, now that the dollar is degenerating into play money, it's not like I'll be doing much international travelling anytime soon ... Caused chaos? Considering what the place was already like, how could they tell?
