Oops, I did it again!

I finished work at 9:50 last Friday due to my 10:00 – 13:15 class canceling.

Woooo Hoooo!

So, I went to Ikea to look for a few things, the post office, the supermarket, etc and ended up home around 13:00. I got busy putting my two Ikea things together, listening to the radio and being happy. After that was done, I had a seat in my chair and continued having a good time by sitting in my chair and started reading my book….

and promptly fell asleep.

Upon waking up, I looked at the clock in my living room and saw that it said 6:00.

‘That’s way too early to be up on a Saturday morning,’ I thought to myself and went upstairs and back to sleep.

When I woke up, I thought it was odd that it was dark, but I tend to wake up confused so I looked at my digital bedroom clock.

21:31!

‘Oh S**t! It’s still Friday evening!’

I rarely (intentionally) take naps because I usually can’t sleep well afterwards, and I ended up not being tired enough to get to sleep until 4:00 on Saturday morning.

In addition to my analog clock, I now have a digital 24-hour clock in my living room.

Dude, do you live in a sensory deprivation tank or something?

I find that after living in our apartment without much in the way of drapery or other window covering over the past four years, I am extremely sensitive to light levels with regard to my sleep. 18:00 has a completely different vibe than 06:00 for this time of year at least and that would have tipped me off immediately.

The other perk of having only one set of drapes in the whole apartment (barring the window in the shower) is that people have stopped peering in. Heheh.

Wow!

I have to say that like cliff, I don’t think I could make that kind of mistake–the outdoor light at 0600 and 1800 are too different–0600 it comes from the east and is lower and 1800 it’s coming from the west (and a bit north)…

I wear an analogue watch and I won’t consider anything that isn’t analogue for my wrist, even as my computer, handy, and iPod all show me the 24 hour clock.

Guys, my house is in a courtyard and the buildings surrounding it are three storeys higher, so the sun only shines on it in the late morning and early afternoon (which I’ll probably regret in the winter). So, all I see from my windows at both 6:00 and 18:00 is that it’s either daylight or not, and luckily I haven’t had to see 6:00 much since it started getting light just after that time. Luckily, the skylights on the second level let me see what’s going on.

Also, I spent 7 years working the graveyard shift, so sleeping when it’s light out isn’t a problem for me.
